leaders at all levels must be
clear about why they work, and
they must also understand
what drives the people around
them.
The personal approach has
another important advantage:
it illuminates what people
in the company– from
the front-liners to the top
management– enjoy. When
people’s passions align with
the company’s purpose,
then everyone gives their
best to pursue that collective
purpose.

stakeholders in

interdependence.
The question of what the world
needs touches employees,
customers, suppliers,
communities, and company
stakeholders. According to
Hubert Joly, a business cannot
thrive in the long term if the
planet or community is on fire
or if employees are unhappy.
